A Dream To Begin

So in a not-so-recent post (I say that because I have been criticized for not posting very often, sorry) I sought your advice on something I could do for humanity. I wanted to do something big. I received a few responses which were very helpful. I was especially grateful to an old mission companion who encouraged me to dream big.

So I have been praying and pondering on this for a while and an idea has begun to take shape. While it is still very much in its infancy, my idea is to develop low to very low-income housing to help alliviate some of the pressures that being financially burdened can cause so that the poor can begin to seek solutions that would help them escape the circumstances they are in. I recognize that in the world today, there are many people who at no fault of their own, they are struggling: to eat, to live, to escape their situation. I want to provide housing and then help create opportunities for advancement such as financial education, how to access scholarships for education, self-sustainability. I want to do more than give people a place to live. I want to give parents hope and children the opportunity to dream.

So my current plan is to slowly develop a plan and the resources to form a non-profit organization and then to go after the grants and funding to be able to realize my dream. So, if any one out there has any knowledge, suggestions or advice, please let me know. I may not have all the knowledge but I have the drive and determination to see that this dream comes to fruition.

Good for you honey. If anyone can do it, it is you. I am so proud of you for wanting to do something so noble with your life. I really hope it works out for you and for us, I am behind you 100%.

Hey super nerd! Sounds like an awesome idea - a lesson in church last week opened my eyes to this thought of doing our part...way to go on moving towards yours! (And thanks for reading my blog...I think I'm just writing to my mom most of the time!)
